The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced a final reopening of its verification portal for a 48-hour period to allow tertiary institutions that have yet to complete their student verification exercise to do so.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the announcement was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications.

According to Oluwatuyi, the portal will be accessible from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, to 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, giving institutions a final opportunity to verify their students as part of the ongoing 2024/2025 NELFUND loan application process.
“Institutions are strongly advised to make full use of this final opportunity,” the statement read. “Failure to complete the verification process within the stipulated period will result in affected institutions forfeiting participation in the current loan cycle.”
She warned that non-compliance would disadvantage students from defaulting institutions, as they would be unable to benefit from the federal student loan scheme.
In a move aimed at ensuring transparency, Oluwatuyi said the list of defaulting institutions would be made public after the deadline.

She reiterated NELFUND’s commitment to promoting equitable access to higher education through efficient, transparent, and inclusive management of the student loan scheme.
“The Fund remains dedicated to ensuring that no eligible Nigerian student is denied access to education due to financial constraints,” she added.
