Suarez Discusses Barcelona Mistreatment, Messi’s Contract And Conflict With Griezman

The Uruguayan striker left Barcelona after disagreements with the club’s management in September, a year before the end of his career in Camp Nou, as the second-best scorer in the club’s history.
Suarez, who has scored 198 goals for Barcelona since arriving from Liverpool in 2014, had a one-year contract at Camp Nou when the new team coach Ronald Koeman informed him that he did not expect him for this season.
The former Liverpool striker admitted that he refused to complete the pre-season preparations in Barcelona and instead decided to go to Atletico Madrid, for which he has already scored 14 goals and proved that he is still one of the best strikers in the world, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
“My departure was difficult due to how much the club did not respect me. But I wanted my children to see me leave the club with their heads held high, ” admitted Suárez.
“I had a hard time leaving Barcelona. There were rumors that turned out to be true. ”
“Koeman called me and told me I wasn’t in his plans. I accepted his decision and told him I had a contract and the club would have to work it out. I was given the option not to participate in pre-season training, but I said that I still have a contract and I want to show you. ”
” When I then saw how Barcelona leads, somehow calmed me. I could stay in a club and get paid without playing. But I have my pride. ”
Suárez also spoke of his close relationship with Lionel Messi and was upset to see details of his former teammate’s contract in the press.
“When I came to Barcelona, Messi and I became friends right away. We had a great relationship and were like family. ”
“I don’t see how anyone can be so bad as to bring out something as private as Leo’s contract. Only four or five people could have known the details of his contract, but I have no idea who it could have been. ”
Suarez also denied speculation about his strained relationship with Antion Griezmann, who came to Barcelona in 2019 from Atletico Madrid.
“We had a good relationship with Griezmann from the beginning,” Suárez added. “We were honest with each other and we met outside of football.”
