Suspect arrested in homicide of Florida teen found dead after a bike ride
EKO HOT BLOG reports that a suspect has been detained in the killing of Ryan Rogers, a 14-year-old kid who went on a bike ride from his Florida home on November 15 and never returned.
Rogers’ death has remained a mystery for the last two weeks, following the discovery of his corpse on the side of a road in Palm Beach Gardens on Nov. 16. Investigators deemed the incident a “homicide,” calling it a “deliberate crime,” but no cause of death has been disclosed.
“The cause of death is not being disclosed at this time,” police said on Nov. 20. “However, Rogers’ death was not the result of a traffic-related collision.”
The Palm Beach Gardens Police Department has not made any public statements regarding the suspect.
Rogers left his house on his bike about 6:39 p.m., and when he didn’t return, his family filed a missing person report at 10:30.
His remains were discovered a day later on Central Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens, between PGA Boulevard and Donald Ross Road, near the I-95 flyover.
“The fact that this happened in Palm Beach Gardens is astonishing to me,” said family friend Mindy York. “Such a quiet, quaint town where we have zero crime.”
Rogers’ family could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.
The Palm Beach Gardens Police Department is holding a press conference on Thursday morning.
