EKO HOT BLOG reports that a fresh tanker explosion has caused motorists to scamper for safety while causing gridlock on the Lagos Ibadan Expressway.
The tanker laden with the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly called petrol, exploded Friday night around the OPIC axis in Isheri, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

According to Channels Television, the incident left travellers stranded while motorists took one way because of the explosion.
The cause of the explosion, however, is yet unknown, and neither is the truck driver’s destination known.
It was also not clear if there were casualties from the incident as details remain scanty on the explosion.
Meanwhile, this development happened barely five days after a yet-to-be-identified man died in an accident involving 16 persons at the Magboro Bus Stop along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Seven other passengers were said to have been injured in that crash.
Two vehicles – a Mercedes Benz ML350 with number plate AKD424HH and a Volkswagen commercial bus with number plate KSF934YA – were said to be involved in the accident.

Eyewitness accounts narrated that the accident occurred when the Mercedes Benz collided with a commercial bus that was parked at the bus stop while trying to avoid a road user.
