Amupitan described Tella’s posting to Oyo State as a weighty responsibility requiring unwavering commitment to professionalism and transparency.
He warned that the commission would not tolerate any breach of guidelines, stressing that INEC’s mandate must remain beyond reproach.

He charged the REC to build public confidence by ensuring voters believe their choices truly count and by combating all forms of electoral malpractice, including vote-buying.
Amupitan also encouraged Tella to work closely with staff to strengthen democratic processes in the state.
In his response, Tella assured that he would operate with total adherence to the Constitution and the Electoral Act.

He said his years of experience in public administration have equipped him to navigate operational challenges, especially in result management—a sensitive area during elections.
The new REC outlined plans for improved real-time result transmission, enhanced training for election officials, and tighter cybersecurity measures to protect BVAS operations.
He also called for increased voter registration sensitisation, particularly in remote communities, as he embarks on his second and final term as REC.
