The political atmosphere in Badagry turned celebratory on Tuesday as thousands of supporters, traditional rulers and leaders of the All Progressives Congress gathered to endorse Lagos State Deputy Governor, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, for the 2027 governorship election.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the endorsement rally attracted key APC stakeholders from across Lagos, including members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) and senior party leaders.

The delegation was led by GAC Secretary, Muti Are, alongside prominent party figures such as Musiliu Obanikoro, Fouad Oki, Bode Oyedele and Adediran Olayinka.
Speaking on behalf of Hamzat, who was absent at the gathering, Obanikoro thanked residents of Badagry for their continued support for the APC and the deputy governor.
He also praised governorship aspirant, Samuel Ajose, for stepping down from the race in support of Hamzat’s ambition.
According to Obanikoro, Ajose’s decision reflected loyalty to the party and respect for APC national leader and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“By obeying the leadership of the party, Ajose has demonstrated the Omoluabi ethos through humility, loyalty and respect for our party and its leadership,” he said.
As part of the event, Obanikoro announced the donation of two boats and 100 life jackets to schools in Badagry on behalf of Hamzat to improve safety for schoolchildren using waterways for transportation.
Earlier, Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Babatunde Hunpe, commended party leaders, youths and traditional rulers for their commitment to the APC.
Hunpe assured supporters that the backing for Hamzat would yield positive outcomes for both Badagry Division and Lagos State.
“Our traditional rulers, youths and party faithful have demonstrated total commitment to this project, and I assure you that your support for the APC will not be in vain,” he stated.
