TESCOM Visit: Alli-Balogun Seeks Improved Motivation, Training, Welfare of Teachers

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, recently visited TESCOM to emphasize the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in the education sector.

Alli-Balogun also highlighted the need to review the promotion and career progression of teachers to ensure it reflects their performances.
Teachers were encouraged to enhance their ICT skills and strengthen counselling strategies to foster students’ academic success.
In addition, Alli-Balogun stressed the importance of monitoring schools to identify areas needing improvement, as well as promoting collaboration between subject-based professional bodies and government agencies to create effective training structures for teachers.
The Commissioner also advocated for concerted efforts to enhance students’ performance in the West African Examination Council.
A key focus was placed on strengthening the teaching of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines, underscoring their significance in preparing students for the future.
In response to Commissioner Alli-Balogun’s address, TESCOM Chairman Mrs. Victoria Mopelola Peregrino expressed appreciation for the visit and assured that the concerns raised would be addressed appropriately.
Echoing the Commissioner’s sentiments, Peregrino emphasized the importance of collaboration among government agencies in improving service delivery within the education sector.
In attendance at the meeting were TESCOM’s Board members, Permanent Secretary TESCOM Mrs. Adebopo Oyekan-Ismaila, and directors from TESCOM and the Office of Quality Assurance, among other key stakeholders.

Following the meeting, Commissioner Alli-Balogun visited the venue of the Year 2025 promotion exercise (Oral Interview) for eligible officers at Ikeja High School GRA Ikeja. During his visit, he extended his well-wishes to the candidates and encouraged them to excel in the examination process.
