PLWDs from different wards across Epe were hosted to a warm gathering that featured music, shared stories, motivational talks, and the distribution of cash gifts and food items.
Hon. Kadri-Edu said the event was meant to reflect the governor’s inclusive values.
“The physically challenged deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated. Instead of throwing a lavish party, I chose to do something meaningful, to give hope and show love to those who often feel forgotten.
This is not charity; this is inclusion. It is a reminder that leadership is not about titles, but about the lives we touch.”
She added,
“Mr. Governor has always championed inclusive governance, and this small gesture aligns with his vision. I believe our society becomes stronger when everyone, regardless of ability, is given the chance to thrive.
These individuals are not asking for pity; they are asking for opportunity, visibility, and respect.”
The occasion featured inspiring words from speakers like Dr. Popoola Oluwaseun, who encouraged attendees to never give up on themselves.
“Disability is not the end of your story,” he said. “You matter. Your dreams are valid.”
Dr. Fowowe S.S. also gave a heartfelt tribute to Mr. Segun Williams, the President of the PLWDs association, who made several trips to ensure his members could attend the event.
“He didn’t wait for help, he became the help. That spirit is what true leadership is about.”
Mr. Williams, sharing his personal experience, recalled how his parents refused to let his condition define him.
“My dad pushed me to play football even though I could barely walk. That moment changed my life. I stopped seeing myself as a victim and started acting like I belonged.”
Vice President of the association, Mr. Iyanda Azeez, and Secretary Mrs. Agbadanla, also appreciated Hon. Kadri-Edu and Governor Sanwo-Olu for continuously showing support for PLWDs across the state.
