Those affected are Prof. Olatunji Tajudeen Fasasi Abanikannda, Dean of the School of Agriculture, Epe Campus, and Dr. Khadeejah Olufunke Kareem-Ibraheem, Lecturer I and Coordinator, Department of Animal Sciences, same campus.
Prof. Abanikannda was found guilty of several violations, including subjecting 400-level students to harsh farm conditions from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. without food or water, even during torrential rainfall.
He was also indicted for sexual harassment of female students, using derogatory and profane language toward staff and students, and unauthorized collection of money.
One student, speaking anonymously, said, “We were treated like we had no rights. The farm became a place of suffering, not learning.”
Dr. Kareem-Ibraheem was dismissed for failing to implement the approved Farm Practical Year (FPY) curriculum and for diverting proceeds from farm produce — amounting to over ₦10.6 million — into her personal bank account, rather than remitting the funds to the university.
A faculty member familiar with the investigation said, “The amount of money traced to her personal account was shocking. It was a total betrayal of trust.”
The University, through a statement signed by Registrar Emmanuel A. Fanu, confirmed that both dismissals took effect from Thursday, July 3, 2025.
“These acts, tantamount to ‘Serious Misconduct’, are in contravention of the University’s Conditions of Service for Senior Staff,” the statement read.
