The legal counsel for TikToker-turned-activist Olumide Ogunsanwo, popularly known as Seaking, Inibehe Effiong, has threatened to file a lawsuit against Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the warning comes just hours after RCCG issued a statement calling for an investigation into Seaking over alleged defamatory remarks against Pastor Adeboye.

Seaking stirred controversy in December 2024 when he criticized Pastor Adeboye’s 100-day fasting directive, describing it as “stupid.” This led to a petition by the Concerned Christian Youth Forum to the Lagos State Police Command, resulting in Seaking’s arrest.

However, during a recent Holy Ghost Congress, Pastor Adeboye distanced himself from the matter, claiming he had no knowledge of the arrest or those behind it. Following these remarks, Seaking was released on administrative bail on Monday after his legal team initially contested some bail conditions.

Reacting to RCCG’s latest statement, Effiong condemned the church’s stance, warning that if the statement is not retracted within 24 hours, Pastor Adeboye will be included in a lawsuit for violating Seaking’s fundamental rights.

“Since Pastor Adeboye initially distanced himself from the case, we had no intention of including him in any fundamental rights enforcement suit. However, RCCG’s sudden shift now aligns the church with the petitioners, making them legally accountable,” Effiong stated.

He further accused RCCG of aligning itself with the police and complainants, warning that Pastor Adeboye may now be required to testify in court and face cross-examination in any legal proceedings.

Effiong also criticized religious leaders for allegedly weaponizing law enforcement against critics, warning that such actions could damage their reputation and calling.

“Pastors who use the police to silence critics risk having their calling questioned. Vengeance should be left to God, not law enforcement agencies,” he stated.

The legal battle surrounding Seaking’s comments on Pastor Adeboye continues to unfold, with RCCG now facing increasing legal pressure.
