Timileyin Ajayi, Popular Gospel Artist Arrested for Beheading Girlfriend in Abuja

A disturbing incident occurred in Orozo, Abuja, where gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi was apprehended by churchgoers during a service after being found with a sack containing the severed head of his girlfriend.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Umaru Caleb, a church member who shared the incident on Facebook, said the suspect was apprehended during a Sunday service. A fellow congregant reportedly felt an unusual compulsion to stop Ajayi and inspect the contents of the sack he was carrying.

To their horror, they discovered the freshly severed head of a young woman, whose hair was styled in “million braids.”

The church member immediately raised an alarm, prompting other worshippers to rush outside. The suspect was severely beaten by the mob and interrogated about the origin of the severed head. During the questioning, Ajayi allegedly confessed that the victim was his girlfriend, who had traveled from a distant location to visit him.

A video making the round shows the suspect seated on the ground as onlookers question him. He claimed that a heated argument with his girlfriend escalated, during which she grabbed a knife. In his attempt to disarm her, he said, he inadvertently stabbed her fatally. Ajayi admitted to dismembering her body to dispose of the remains more easily, adding that the rest of her body was still at his house.

The police were subsequently called to take him into custody.

Caleb, in his Facebook post, wrote: “I got the shock of my life as we apprehended a Yahoo ritualist with a human head (his girlfriend) inside a nylon close to our church during service.

“I thought things like this only happened in movies, but I experienced it live today.

“This guy even said the remaining body of the girl is still in his house.

The post included a video showing the severed head of the fair-complexioned young woman being taken out of the bag.

Sources revealed that the victim had recently lost her father in June. She had been in a romantic relationship with Ajayi for over a year, with hopes that their partnership would eventually lead to marriage.

Meanwhile, police authorities in Abuja have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
