EKO HOT BLOG reports that the newly established Energy Security Directorate within ONSA will be responsible for coordinating energy policies, protecting critical infrastructure, managing data, providing security coordination, offering risk advisory services, and building strategic alliances in Nigeria’s energy sector.
In a statement from ONSA’s Head of Strategic Communications, Zakari Mijinyawa, the appointment was highlighted as part of the government’s broader efforts to ensure a stable, sustainable, and secure energy supply for the nation.

The statement stressed that President Tinubu is focused on enhancing energy security and addressing supply chain issues.
“In his new role, Amachree will oversee national energy security initiatives aimed at improving energy security and fostering community involvement in protecting Nigeria’s energy resources to ensure both short and long-term sustainability,” the statement read.
Amachree will collaborate with various stakeholders, including government ministries, security agencies, energy regulators, international partners, and community leaders, to address Nigeria’s energy challenges.
The statement also noted that Amachree, who has degrees in Management and is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School, is well-qualified to lead this important role.
“The National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, extends his congratulations to Hon. Flag Amachree on this appointment,” Mijinyawa added.
