President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a two-year extension of the tenure of the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Mr. AbuduGaniyu Adebomehin, effective January 5, 2026.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the approval, contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, follows the recent transfer of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF) to the Presidency.

According to the statement, the extension is intended to ensure the completion of key reforms initiated by Adebomehin across critical sectors of Nigeria’s geospatial data and land management systems.
President Tinubu directed the Surveyor-General to consolidate ongoing initiatives in areas such as national land administration, highway and abutting land coordination, reclamation and erosion control, and other strategic infrastructure projects.

Adebomehin, first appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari on January 5, 2022, has led several modernization drives within OSGOF, focusing on improved mapping accuracy, geospatial intelligence, and digital land data management nationwide.
The President expressed confidence that Adebomehin’s continued leadership would strengthen Nigeria’s land management systems and advance the administration’s national development agenda.
