Tinubu Arrives South Africa for Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Cape Town, South Africa, to co-chair the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission alongside President Cyril Ramaphosa.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Tinubu’s arrival was confirmed by Frederick Nwabufo, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Engagement, in a statement shared on X.

According to Nwabufo, the Nigerian leader was received at the airport by South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Roland Lamola, and Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu.

The statement read, “President Tinubu in Cape Town, South Africa, for the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission meeting. He was received by South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr. Roland Lamola, alongside Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu.”

Tinubu’s visit follows his recent state trip to France. Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had earlier announced that Tinubu would depart France on Monday to attend the commission’s meeting in Cape Town.

The Bi-National Commission, scheduled for Tuesday, December 3, will be preceded by a ministerial meeting on December 2 at the South African Parliament Building. Discussions will focus on key areas of cooperation, including political consultations, migration, banking, defence, security, manufacturing, energy, trade, and investments between both nations.
