EKO HOT BLOG reports that President Tinubu delivered a resounding call for non-partisan conduct among the Armed Forces during his speech on Monday, at the palace of the Shehu of Borno.
Amidst the backdrop of Maiduguri’s Chief of Army Staff Conference, he urged vigilance in upholding democratic principles while promising robust support to tackle national challenges.
Acknowledging the Army’s vital role in safeguarding constitutional order during elections, Tinubu praised their professional conduct in recent state elections. He highlighted the significance of civilian-military projects across Nigeria, strengthening community ties and enhancing living conditions.
Underlining his commitment to national defense enhancement, Tinubu stressed modernization efforts, citing recent aircraft procurements. Expressing gratitude for the Armed Forces’ sacrifices, he announced substantial life assurance benefits for fallen heroes’ families and assured continued government support for serving personnel and their families.
Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, lauded Tinubu’s strategy, affirming increased morale and progress in the fight against insecurity. Pledging sustained support, Badaru vowed investments in operational capabilities.
Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, highlighted military successes against criminal elements and farmer-herder crises. He emphasized the need for continued evaluation and long-term strategies, crucial for fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities in 2024.
