Tinubu Has Shown Unprecedented Support To Health Sector – Dr Tunji Alausa

The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Morufu Tunji Alausa, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his exceptional commitment to the Nigerian health sector, EKO HOT BLOG reports.

Speaking at the quarterly meeting of the Committee of Heads of Federal Tertiary Hospitals held in Abuja, Dr Alausa highlighted President Tinubu’s efforts to enhance the nation’s healthcare system.

In his address, Dr Alausa stated that President Tinubu’s administration has allocated the highest health budget in the history of Nigeria.

According to him, “Our dear President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has shown unprecedented support to the health sector, because above all else, he wants the best and affordable healthcare for all Nigerians,” said Dr. Alausa.

He also noted that the President has authorized the creation of additional tertiary hospitals, significantly increasing the country’s healthcare capacity.

Dr Alausa also outlined the ministry’s 4-point agenda, focusing on governance, improving population health outcomes, optimizing the health value chain, and enhancing health security.

He urged the hospital leaders to prioritize immediate improvements to existing facilities while planning for long-term development, stressing the need for patient-centered care.

Speaking further, Dr Alausa announced the establishment of the National Tertiary Hospitals Standards Committee to ensure compliance with high standards of care and management across federal hospitals. He also introduced the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Taskforce, tasked with addressing the rising threat of antimicrobial resistance in Nigeria.

To further support federal tertiary hospitals, Dr Alausa revealed that the government has approved power subsidies, which are expected to reduce operational costs and enhance service delivery.

“We must do our part to show Mr President that we are up to the task,” Dr Alausa added.
