EKO HOT BLOG reports that the meeting, confirmed by the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, was shared via a post on his 𝕏 handle. While specific details of the meeting were not disclosed at press time, it is believed to be part of Tinubu’s ongoing consultations with influential political figures.
The class of 1999 governors, including Tinubu himself, who served as Lagos State Governor from 1999 to 2007, played pivotal roles in shaping Nigeria’s Fourth Republic. Their gathering comes amid intensified political discussions ahead of crucial decisions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Meanwhile, during the 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the APC, President Tinubu charged governors elected under the party’s platform to step up development efforts at the grassroots level. He noted that many Nigerians are still unhappy with the level of progress in their communities.
“Nigerians are still complaining at the grassroots,” Tinubu said. “You, the governors, have to wet the grass more and lead the way in delivering progressive change.”

He also emphasised the need for unity within the party and collective action toward economic stability and development. He called on APC governors to support the initiative of building a befitting party secretariat by working with the FCT Minister to secure appropriate land.
