EKO HOT BLOG reports that he made the appeal on Saturday during the funeral service of Nana Lydia Yilwatda, mother of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, held in Jos.
Tinubu called on Nigerians to rise above religious and ethnic divisions, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. “I inherited Islam from my family and I didn’t change, but my wife is a pastor who prays for me.
I have never tried to convert her because I believe in the freedom of religion,” the president said. “We are all answerable to the same Almighty God. What truly matters is our love and kindness toward others.”
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for attending the funeral despite his busy schedule. He acknowledged insecurity as a major challenge facing the state but assured that his administration was working hard to promote peace and stability.
He also appreciated First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for supporting displaced and vulnerable women and children in the state.
Prof. Yilwatda described his late mother as a devoted, humble, and selfless woman who lived a life of service to others. “She was strong and compassionate, always sharing what she had with our neighbours,” he said.
The 83-year-old deceased was laid to rest in Dungung, Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State.
