President Tinubu is reportedly considering appointing Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), to a ministerial position.
According to sources, Tinubu plans to dismiss several ministers in the coming days, causing widespread concern among members of the Federal Executive Council.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that an insider revealed to Nigerian Tribune that some ministers would be removed due to non-performance, while others may face dismissal for actions deemed unsatisfactory.
The source specifically pointed out that infractions related to board appointments could lead to at least two ministers losing their jobs.
Nigerians are advised to pay attention to developments that may unfold on Independence Day.
In addition to Kwankwaso, another opposition figure, Senator Shehu Sani, is also being considered for a ministerial appointment. Sani left the All Progressives Congress (APC) in October 2018 to join the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
Credible sources indicate that the president has sought advice on his intention to bring in new talent to his administration, extending an olive branch to politicians outside the APC.
“Kwankwaso is a serious contender for the appointment. His Kwankwasiyya Movement has significant influence over millions of voters in Kano. Ironically, this very strength is a point of contention among those opposing his potential entry into Tinubu’s government, as they fear he may unexpectedly resign to pursue the presidency in 2027,” one insider stated.
Additionally, a source close to the presidency mentioned that around eight ministers may be replaced, though nearly all appointees are eager to discern who might be impacted by the upcoming changes. As incumbents strive to retain their positions, politicians outside the current government are also lobbying influential figures to secure ministerial roles.
However, the president is reportedly keeping his plans closely guarded.
