Tinubu Gives Dismissed Ministers Deadline To Handover
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has announced that his office is working closely with the Head of Civil Service of the Federation to implement President Bola Tinubu’s directive on the merger and dissolution of several ministries.
In a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja, Akume confirmed that all necessary handover processes must be completed by Wednesday, October 30, 2024, with outgoing ministers without successors required to transfer their duties to the respective Permanent Secretaries.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Akume further explained that the Ministry of Tourism will merge with the Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, while the Ministry of Sports Development has been scrapped.
This restructuring is being supervised by the SGF’s office and the Head of Civil Service. Additionally, the Ministry of Niger Delta Development has been renamed, with an expanded mandate, and relevant supervising authorities have been informed of the changes.
He emphasized that Permanent Secretaries must ensure a smooth transition and submit handover notes to the SGF for proper documentation.
This follows President Tinubu’s earlier decision to sack five ministers, appoint seven new ones, and reassign 10 others to new portfolios, as part of a broader government restructuring effort.
