Eko Hot Blog reports that President Bola Tinubu has made adjustments to the earlier appointments he approved for the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education.
According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Brigadier-General Lawal Isa (retd.), who was initially appointed as the Executive Secretary on March 15, will now serve as the chairman of the commission’s board.

“Brigadier-General Lawal Ja’afar Isa (Rtd) is now to serve as the Chairman of the Board of the Commission,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, Dr. Idris Sani has been appointed as the new Executive Secretary/CEO of the commission, replacing Sha’aban Sharada, who was the commission’s pioneer leader since its creation in May 2023.
Ngelale described Isa, a former military administrator of Kaduna State from 1993 to 1996, as “a respected leader.”
On the other hand, Sani holds master’s and doctorate degrees in Islamic Studies and has held various positions, including Director-General of Al-Iman School Lafia, Commissioner for Basic/Secondary Education in Yobe State, Chairman of the Nigerian Arabic Language Village in Borno State, and Secretary-General of the Association of Private Schools in Nasarawa State.

The statement highlighted President Tinubu’s expectations for the new appointees, saying, “The President expects that the new appointees will bring their vast experience into the management of this critical Commission, which impacts the very core of society, by ensuring that his administration’s drive to guarantee Nigeria’s out-of-school children the most comprehensive education is realized in the superseding interest of the nation’s future.”
The National Commission for Almajiri and Out of School Children Education was established to address the issue of out-of-school children in Nigeria, particularly those from the Almajiri system of Islamic education.
