The Presidency has dismissed assertions by the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, that President Bola Tinubu is an accidental leader. Instead, it insists Tinubu is a well-prepared reformer whose administration is driving significant changes across the nation.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement responding to Bishop Kukah’s remarks, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, emphasized Tinubu’s readiness for leadership and his commitment to addressing the country’s challenges.

“He is not an accidental leader,” Onanuga stated. “He has consistently demonstrated that he prepared for this position. President Tinubu himself acknowledged his preparedness and remains committed to lifting Nigeria to greater heights.”

Onanuga highlighted Tinubu’s focus on reforms as evidence of his leadership capabilities. “The President is touching every sector, implementing reforms that take time to yield results but are essential for the country’s turnaround. These include critical changes in taxation and the oil sector, among others.”

Addressing criticisms of the administration’s impact, Onanuga noted that while reforms might create temporary hardships, Tinubu is making efforts to mitigate their effects on Nigerians. “He is the first to acknowledge that people will be affected. The government is actively working to ensure those impacted are supported and not left behind.”

The Presidency described Tinubu as a reform-driven leader dedicated to building a stronger, more resilient Nigeria. Onanuga concluded, “Transformations are not achieved through quick fixes. They require a deliberate approach, and President Tinubu is steadfast in his resolve to implement meaningful changes for the country’s benefit.”

The statement underscores the administration’s confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and its determination to stay the course amid ongoing reforms.
