In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu affirmed Nigeria’s commitment to deepen ties with Denmark through collaboration in knowledge transfer, veterinary services, and sustainable agricultural practices.
Acknowledging the long-standing conflict between farmers and herders, the President noted that this challenge could be turned into an economic advantage through investment, education, and modernization.
“We can convert that friction into structured economic opportunity and provide education pathways—even for farmers and herders. We can stabilize communities, grow our food systems, and lift millions out of poverty,” Tinubu stated.
President Tinubu underscored the role of demographics in shaping Nigeria’s foreign policy and emphasized the importance of strategic planning to manage the country’s projected population of 400 million by 2050. He pointed to agriculture, education, healthcare, and job creation as essential pillars of this strategy, in line with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also highlighted ongoing economic reforms and called for more foreign investment to support local industries and employment.
President Tinubu praised Denmark’s contributions to Nigeria’s agriculture and maritime sectors, acknowledging companies like A.P. Moller Maersk and Grundfos for their role in strengthening infrastructure and food systems.
He expressed gratitude for Denmark’s humanitarian support in conflict-affected areas and looked forward to deeper collaboration as Denmark prepares to lead the European Union Council and take a seat on the UN Security Council in 2025 to 2026.
On social development, the President welcomed the partnership between Queen Mary and the First Lady, especially on school feeding programs and efforts to reduce the number of out-of-school children. Senator Oluremi Tinubu also stressed the importance of incorporating traditional Islamic schools into the national education framework.
Queen Mary expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and extended sympathy for the humanitarian challenges in Nigeria’s northeast. She stated that her visit aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and explore opportunities in the green economy, trade, women-led businesses, child health, and educational and cultural exchanges.
The Queen applauded Senator Tinubu’s efforts to empower women and families through the Renewed Hope Initiative Programme and revealed plans to visit the A.P. Moller Maersk terminal in Lagos as part of her business agenda.
Denmark continues to maintain a strong partnership with Nigeria in advancing sustainable development and providing humanitarian aid, particularly for displaced communities affected by conflict.
