EKO HOT BLOG reports that Speaking on Sunday when Wike led a delegation of FCT residents on a Sallah homage to the State House in Abuja, Tinubu disclosed that Wike had requested an exemption for the FCT from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) to enable him to execute projects more efficiently.
Tinubu, however, stated that he warned Wike that if the request ended up benefiting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) more than the All Progressives Congress (APC) and weakened his chances of winning elections in the FCT, Wike would lose his job.
“He (Wike) came up with a lot of good ideas. I remember the day he came to me and said, ‘Please take us out of this problem of TSA so I can do more work and achieve more.’ I asked him to show me his plans, and he presented them,” Tinubu said.
The President added, “I then threw in my own political jibe, asking him, ‘Would this give me a better opportunity for my party to win elections in the FCT? I know where you are coming from—your party or mine—but if this works too much in your favor, you will lose your job.’
