President Bola Tinubu has stated that the history of the Yoruba people would have been incomplete if he had not succeeded in the last election.
Eko Hot Blog reports that he made this statement on Sunday during the eighth-day Fidau prayers held in honor of the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.

Oba Adetona, a close friend of former President Muhammadu Buhari, passed away on Sunday at the age of 91, just hours after the announcement of Buhari’s death.
Adetona was one of the longest-reigning traditional rulers, having ascended the throne on April 2, 1960, and serving for 64 years. His relationship with the former Nigerian president and Head of State dated back to the 1980s.

Tinubu said the late monarch had given him his blessing and encouraged him to contest in the 2023 presidential election, assuring him of victory.
He added, “Our history would not have been completed carefully and richly if I had failed in the last election.
“I was successful because of your support and the blessing of the late Awujale.”
