The Presidency has dismissed comparisons between President Bola Tinubu and the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 election, Peter Obi, insisting that the former Anambra State governor cannot match Tinubu’s leadership record and political vision.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made the assertion in a post on his verified 𝕏 handle on Wednesday.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to Onanuga, Obi has failed to demonstrate originality in his political ideas and achievements, describing him as a “copy-and-paste politician.”
“Peter Obi has never shown original, authentic thinking. He is a copy-and-paste politician. That explains why he has nothing to showcase as Anambra governor for eight years,” Onanuga wrote.
The presidential aide further referenced comments he attributed to Obi’s successor in Anambra State, Willie Obiano, regarding the security situation during Obi’s administration.
“Willie Obiano, his successor, said Obi failed spectacularly in providing security in the state,” he added.
Onanuga contrasted Obi’s tenure in Anambra with Tinubu’s record as governor of Lagos State, arguing that the President left behind institutions and development frameworks that continue to shape governance in the state years after his administration.
“In contrast with Governor Tinubu in Lagos, Tinubu left LAWMA, LASTMA, LAMATA, RRS, a rail and road masterplan, which is still being executed to this day,” he said.
The presidential spokesman maintained that Nigeria requires leaders with proven vision, capacity and the ability to drive long-term development.
“Nigeria deserves a leader who can see beyond the ken of the ordinary people, a leader who is a proven deep thinker and doer.
“Peter Obi is no match for President Bola Tinubu. They are not on the same level,” Onanuga stated.
