Media personality Toke Makinwa has strongly criticized music star 2Baba (Innocent Idibia) after he publicly announced his divorce from wife, Annie Idibia, bringing their 12-year marriage to an end.
In an Instagram video posted on Sunday, 2Baba shared the news of his separation, revealing that they had been living apart for some time and were in the process of filing for divorce. The announcement stunned fans and the public alike, with many expressing concern over the couple’s troubled relationship.

Makinwa, known for her outspoken views, wasted no time in responding directly to the artist’s post. “This is wrong on all levels, and you should be ashamed of yourself for bringing this here,” she wrote in a comment. “Bring it on. If you think she’s alone, let me tell you here that you’ll have to fight all of us.”
Her comment sparked a wave of support from those who shared her sentiments, with many agreeing that the public airing of such personal matters was unnecessary and harmful.
Makinwa, further venting her frustration, shared more thoughts on her Instagram story, where she directly addressed those remaining neutral on the matter.

“I’m not one for too much talk, but what is wrong is wrong, and as a woman, if you sit on the fence on this one, if it misses you, it’ll touch your daughter or any female in your family,” Makinwa wrote. “No one is innocent, and if you want to bring the media into it, knowing what is happening, we would fight for her.”
Her posts, laced with anger and disappointment, continued into the next day, where she posed a question that many had been pondering: Why take such a sensitive issue to social media? “Nobody is asking anybody to stay in a situation that’s not serving them any purpose anymore; by all means, leave if you must, but why bring this online this very moment?” Makinwa wrote on Monday.
Toke emphasized that while she understood the personal struggles that may lead to the end of a marriage, she was critical of the timing and method of 2Baba’s announcement.

“We know what is going on behind closed doors. The world doesn’t know anything; it’s already been hectic with opinions flying around, and when I say we will fight for her, I’m not talking about the general public,” Makinwa continued.
She pointed out the importance of empathy, especially for those involved in such private matters.
“Timing is everything; empathy is everything. You constantly preach love; you cannot add to the narrative that’s out there when you know what is really happening behind closed doors,” Makinwa wrote, indicating that there was more to the story than what the public was being shown.

The backlash from Makinwa has drawn attention to the broader conversation about privacy and respect in the face of public relationships. Many fans have rallied behind Makinwa, supporting her call for discretion and understanding, while others have expressed concern for the couple’s well-being during this difficult time.
As the story continues to unfold, both 2Baba and Annie have remained largely quiet on the matter, with only 2Baba’s social media post shedding light on the ongoing divorce proceedings.
