Fatima Dzuma, a resident of Lafiyagi Dzwafu village in Niger State’s Katcha Local Government Area, allegedly killed her husband, Baba, in a shocking incident that has left the community in disbelief.
Eko Hot Blog reports that a local resident mentioned that Baba married Dzuma three years ago after her divorce from her first husband. Dzuma did not have any children with Baba but had one child from her previous marriage.
Coincidentally, Baba’s first wife had recently given birth, and preparations for the naming ceremony were underway.
The Wife reportedly confessed, saying she killed her husband because she “no longer liked him.”
It is alleged that Dzuma committed the heinous act by strangling her husband, Baba, with a scarf while he was asleep. She then proceeded to hit him twice on the head and once on the hand with a pestle, breaking his hand in the process.
After killing Baba, Dzuma reportedly wrapped his body in a mat, dragged it to the backyard, and meticulously cleaned the scene to conceal any evidence.
For three days following the incident, Dzuma denied knowing Baba’s whereabouts, even as his family members searched tirelessly for him.
However, she later admitted, “I acted alone.”
The Wife is currently in police custody, pleading for mercy and claiming, “The devil made me do it.”
The Niger State Police Command confirmed the arrest of Fatima Dzuma, the 27-year-old woman who allegedly killed her husband, 25-year-old Baba Aliyu, in Lafiyagi Dzwafu village, Katcha Local Government Area. The police stated that investigations are currently ongoing.

Further details provided by the police revealed that she admitted to killing her husband following a violent altercation.
According to her statement, Baba had beaten her during the argument, and later, while he was asleep, she struck him on the head with a pestle, which led to his death.
