U.S. President Donald Trump has announced his willingness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the war in Ukraine, even if Putin declines to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This decision contradicts previous indications that a meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian leaders was a prerequisite for a U.S.-Russia summit.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Kremlin has confirmed that a summit between Trump and Putin is planned for the “coming days,” with a potential location being the United Arab Emirates.

However, Washington has denied that a specific venue or date has been finalized. A White House official did acknowledge that the meeting could happen as early as next week.

Ukrainian President Zelensky, on the other hand, insists on being a part of any talks and has reached out to European leaders to ensure Europe is included in the negotiations.
Russia has continued to resist calls for a ceasefire and has presented hardline territorial demands.
Meanwhile, Senator Jeanne Shaheen, a Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has urged President Trump to take a firm stance against the Kremlin and use the opportunity to bring an end to the war.
This would be the first meeting between a sitting U.S. and Russian president since Joe Biden met with Putin in Geneva in June 2021.
