Trump had earlier announced that indirect talks held in Egypt led to a major breakthrough. The first phase of the United States peace plan requires the release of all hostages held in Gaza and a withdrawal of Israeli forces to an agreed boundary.
Hamas has also confirmed its participation in the peace agreement. The deal marks the first direct progress toward ending months of conflict that have caused widespread destruction and humanitarian suffering in Gaza.
