At a White House event on Tuesday, Trump was joined by SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Oracle CTO Larry Ellison, where he described the initiative as “the largest AI infrastructure project in history.” He emphasized that the venture would be a testament to America’s strength under his administration.

The new venture, named “Stargate,” is set to initially commit $100 billion, with the goal of reaching $500 billion in funding over the next four years. The funds will be used to construct massive data centres and other critical infrastructure to support AI development.
Trump stressed the importance of keeping AI innovation in the U.S., particularly as China and other nations remain strong competitors in the sector. “We want it to be in this country,” he said.
SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle will lead the project, with SoftBank’s Son appointed as chairman. The venture also marks a shift in U.S. AI policy, as Trump revoked a Biden-era executive order that established safety guidelines for AI development.

Stargate is expected to bring together top U.S. tech companies like Arm, Microsoft, and NVIDIA, which will serve as key technology partners.
The project’s first phase is underway in Texas, with additional campuses planned across the country. OpenAI also highlighted Stargate’s potential to boost U.S. industrialization and enhance national security.
