Opinion: Tyler Perry: The Man Created To Help People Cross

Tyler Perry, an African-American once referred to as “A One Man Media empire” because he created his own media empire in a poor black neighborhood in Atlanta, is a media mogul who has shattered barriers, shifted boundaries and made what seem impossible, especially for a black man in the movie producing world, possible.

He tells the story of how he grew up in poverty and with an abusive father who would often physically abuse him and his mother and say all kinds of mean stuff to her which however unconsciously built resilience in the young Tyler to succeed and help people become the best of who they can be.

He continues his story that when he was around 11-12 years old, he met a blind man on his way to his new school who was saying, “Could someone help me cross?” at an intersection and he responded, “I’ll help you cross.”

He didn’t know he was playing out what had subconsciously been planted in his heart.

He became wealthy later in life and all his films are often based on telling black people, especially women that they are powerful, worthy and beautiful: he said he was helping them to cross from wrong stereotypes and judgments into a higher realm of power and becoming: he found his purpose.

One of the faces of black pride is Tyler Perry because of what his life and business stands for: he gives a place of proud to African Americans that they can become whatever they desire to be.

When you forge ahead in a quest, know that you are also building a legacy of strength for those around to emulate and pattern their lives after.

When you forge ahead with strength of character and resilience, you help so many people cross from confusion and obscurity to a place of fulfillment.

“every dreamer in this room, there are people whose lives are tied into your dream, own your stuff, own your business, own your way.” He ended as he received his BET award in 2019.

People’s destinies are tied to yours as you move to build your dream, be resilience and forge ahead despite hardship and difficulty.

When you find purpose and fulfill destiny, you actually help a lot of people cross into theirs.
