Ukrainian drones have targeted a munitions depot in the Russian region of Voronezh, a Ukrainian security source revealed on Saturday.
The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the SBU, Ukraine’s internal security service, carried out the operation.
The depot, located in the village of Soldatskoe, was allegedly being used to transfer munitions and equipment to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian source emphasized that the facility was a key target, with four pockets of fire and continuous detonations of munitions still observed at the site.
Alexander Gusev, the Russian governor of the province, acknowledged the incident on Telegram, stating that “explosive objects” had detonated after a fire in the Ostorogozhsky district.

He reported no casualties but declared a local state of emergency, with several hundred people evacuated and a major road closed.
Notably, the Ukrainian source highlighted that the operation demonstrated Ukraine’s capability to conduct long-range drone strikes, with some domestically produced drones capable of hitting targets over 1,000 km away.
This development comes as Ukraine faces restrictions from some Western allies on using their missiles on Russian territory.
The strike on the munitions depot marks a significant escalation in the conflict, showcasing Ukraine’s determination to disrupt Russia’s military supply chains.
