The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has strongly condemned the brutal attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, which left a vice principal dead and at least 25 students abducted.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the agency’s Communication Specialist, Sussan Akila, described the incident as a painful reminder of the urgent need to safeguard children, teachers and all educational facilities from armed violence.

UNICEF expressed deep sympathy to families affected by the attack and called for the immediate and unconditional release of the kidnapped schoolgirls.

The agency stressed that attacks on schools violate international law and undermine the fundamental right of children to safe education.
Akila emphasised that Nigeria remains bound by the Safe Schools Declaration signed in 2015, urging authorities to intensify efforts to protect learning environments nationwide.

UNICEF said it will continue to support the government, civil society and communities in strengthening safety measures.
