VIDEO: Air Force Personnel Clash with Police Over Drug Suspect

  • Air Force personnel clashed with police at a checkpoint in Delta over a drug suspect.
  • The suspect was found with codeine, Indian hemp, and Canadian loud.
  • Both police and Air Force authorities are investigating the incident.
A violent altercation erupted between personnel of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) at a checkpoint in Jeddo, Delta State, after a drug suspect was detained on Thursday.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the clash, which was captured on video, occurred when police officers transporting a suspect, found in possession of suspected codeine, Indian hemp, and Canadian loud, encountered Air Force personnel who allegedly knew the suspect.

According to State Police spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, the conflict began when the Air Force officers intercepted the police vehicle at a checkpoint and demanded that the suspect be released.

The police officers, who had apprehended the suspect during a routine operation, refused to comply, resulting in an unprovoked attack by the Air Force personnel.

Bright condemned the incident, calling it “unfortunate,” and assured the public that it was being handled.

He further emphasized the longstanding cordial relationship between the Delta State Police and the Nigerian Air Force, noting that both parties were working together to resolve the issue.

“The Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, and the Air Force authorities are looking into the incident,” he said in a post on X.com. “Measures are being put in place to ensure that such a shameful event does not happen again.”
