Controversial Nigerian music star Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, reportedly survived an assassination attempt on Wednesday in Ota, Ogun State, after an encounter with an armed individual.
In a viral video, Portable appeared visibly shaken as he recounted the near-fatal experience, shouting, “They want to kill me!” The footage captured the tense moment when a half-naked man, believed to be the assailant, was apprehended while wielding a gun.
Bystanders could be heard questioning, “Who pulled the trigger?” as the situation unfolded.

Attempts to contact the Ogun State Police Command for comments were unsuccessful, with spokesperson SP Odutola Omolola not responding to calls or messages. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.
Following the incident, Portable expressed his relief at escaping unharmed. Recently, he had also faced criticism from social media personality VeryDarkMan, who condemned him for allegedly assaulting a man at Felabration, an event honoring the late Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti.
VDM had shared a video of the incident, expressing his discontent and warning Portable to stop his violent behavior.
In response, Portable took to Instagram, declaring that he could easily overpower VDM and challenged him to investigate his reputation in Abuja. He stated, “Online madness is different from real-life madness.
I will bend you, mend you, and cripple you. I am a one-man battalion. If I get hold of you… You think you can threaten me with Abuja? Go and ask about me in Maraba Nyanya and Babangida market; go and ask the Lagos boy.”
He further explained the circumstances surrounding the altercation, saying, “My fans should know the person I was fighting. We had a one-on-one, man-to-man confrontation. This guy has collected money for up to five shows and ran away with my money for six months. He took my money for my shows. Are you my manager?”
