War On Russia: Everything Russian Banned At Wimbledon

Russia battles enemies on two fronts as the Western world seeks to isolate the East European nation from the Wimbledon games.

This is in response to it’s war with Ukraine, with the rest of Europe standing against Russia and it’s government .
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Wimbledon has announced that Russian flags and any symbols of support for Russia or Belarus will be banned from this year’s tournament, due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
While Russian players are permitted to compete as neutrals, they will face strict rules regarding promotion of their country.
The decision to ban flags and symbols of support was confirmed by Wimbledon’s chief executive Sally Bolton, who also announced that the tournament would not be aired in Russia or Belarus, and Russian journalists would not be allowed to attend the event.
“We have updated our grounds entry terms and conditions this year to prohibit any Russian or Belarusian flags being brought into the grounds, as well as any other symbols or signs of support for the war or the two regimes,” Bolton said in a statement.
The players themselves will also face restrictions. Any player who carries a flag or promotes their country in any way could be sanctioned, including potentially being expelled from the tournament.
Russian stars may be asked to sign a Code of Conduct before the tournament, but will not be required to make a public declaration of opposition to the war in Ukraine, as proposed by former sports minister Nigel Huddleston last year.
The Wimbledon tournament is set to take place at the All England Club from July 3 to July 16, with many of the world’s top tennis players expected to participate.
While the ban on Russian flags and symbols of support is sure to be controversial, it represents a clear statement by the organisers that they do not condone Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
