Eko Hot Blog reports that Chief Musibau Olatunji Sumonu and his wife, Chief Mrs. Iyabode Sumonu, have promised the people of Egbaland to uphold the honours of the chieftaincy titles they recently received with dedication and sincerity.
Chief Sumonu was installed as the Ilagbe of Egbaland and Lisa of Ake, while his wife was honoured with the chieftaincy title of Faderera of Egbaland.

The Alake of Egbaland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Aremu Gbadebo, performed the installation rites on the Sumonus at a chieftaincy conferment ceremony which held at the majestic Ake Palace, Egbaland, Ogun State, last Friday.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Sumonu thanked the people of Egbaland for trusting his family with the chieftaincy titles.
He also hailed Oba Gbadebo for the privilege to serve under his “wise and exemplary leadership.”
The new Ilagbe of Egbaland prayed for continued unity and togetherness among the leaders of Egbaland to ensure the community’s progress.
“I stand before you today, humbled and deeply grateful for the honor bestowed upon me and my beloved wife, Chief Mrs. Iyabode Sumonu. The titles of Ilagbe of Egbaland and Lisa of Ake, and Faderera of Egbaland, respectively, are a testament to the faith our community has placed in us,” Chief Sumonu said.
“I vow to uphold these titles with utmost dedication and sincerity, and to carry out my responsibilities to the best of my abilities. Our journey has been guided by the values of service, unity, and the relentless pursuit of progress for our community.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our paramount ruler, HRM Oba Michael Aremu Gbadebo CFR, for this incredible honor. It is a privilege to serve under your wise and exemplary leadership.
“I also express my deep appreciation to all esteemed chiefs and guests present here today. May we continue to stand united, working hand in hand for the betterment of Egbaland. Thank you.”
On his part, the Alake described the conferment of the chieftaincy titles as a reinforcement of the fabric of Egbaland’s tradition.
Oba Gbadebo urged the chiefs to live up to the responsibilities of their new titles.
“Today marks a momentous occasion, one that fills my heart with immense gratitude and joy. As I stand before you to celebrate this significant juncture of my 80th year, I am reminded of the tremendous journey we have undertaken together as a community. It is an honor to have witnessed and contributed to the growth and prosperity of Egbaland throughout these years,” he said.
“The conferment of chieftaincy titles today further reinforces the fabric of our tradition. These titles are not merely symbols but embody the essence of duty, honor, and service. Each bestowed title carries with it a responsibility to our community, a responsibility to preserve our culture, and a responsibility to uplift those who look up to us.
