Wema Bank has awarded business grants totaling N3 million to the top three Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that won a business pitch competition at the Lagos Leather Fair 2025, Eko Hot Blog reports.
The winners EwaOluwa Morenikeji of House of Ewa LTD, Joy Fache James of Paciencia, and Fatima Yusuf of House of Zibima , each received N1 million.

These grants reflect Wema Bank’s ongoing commitment to supporting Nigerian MSMEs and equipping them with the resources needed to grow and succeed.
Wema Bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Moruf Oseni, highlighted the vital role MSMEs play in driving Nigeria’s economy and reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to strengthening the sector.
He said, “MSMEs present a two-fold opportunity for us at Wema Bank. With MSMEs constituting the bulk of the economy, empowering MSMEs not only translates to stimulating Nigeria’s economy, but even more importantly, it means extending the reach of our impact to the grassroots and providing support for the people to thrive both personally and professionally.”
An independent agency upgraded Wema Bank’s rating to ‘A minus’, citing the bank’s strong financial performance.

The winners expressed their appreciation to Wema Bank for the support. Morenikeji noted that the grant would help her grow her business, invest in improved machinery, and increase production capacity.
“I’m deeply grateful for this opportunity to put my business out there and get the support I need to scale. This will impact my business. I intend to use this money to expand my business, get better machinery and ensure that our output continues to get better and better.”
The Lagos Leather Fair, an annual event celebrating Africa’s leather industry, brought together enthusiasts, manufacturers, and designers from across the globe. Wema Bank sponsored the fair for the second year in a row, underscoring its dedication to promoting African culture, innovation, and craftsmanship.
This initiative concluded Wema Bank’s activities marking World MSME Day, further solidifying its role as a financial institution committed to supporting Nigerian MSMEs by providing the tools, resources, and support needed for growth, sustainability, and long-term success.
