- Sowore, alongside four others, is currently standing trial for alleged unlawful assembly, attempting to incite others, among other charges for his involvement in the #CrossOverWithProtest procession on New Year’s eve.
The publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has said that Nigeria needs another dimension of the #EndSARS protest to address some important political objectives that the October 2020 demonstrations did not specify.
In a two-minute video shared on his twitter handle, Sowore said the “EndSARS 2” protest “will be clear very clear about what are the political objectives we want to achieve as young people and as oppressed citizens of Nigeria.”

According to the former presidential candidate, for the young Nigerians to achieve anything critical and substantial in “EndSARS 2”, it must be more intense than its 2020 counterpart.
Sowore also objected to the commercial reopening of the Lekki Tollgate where unarmed protesters were reportedly killed on October 2020 by armed soldiers, adding that it must be eventually converted to a national museum of resistance.
He, however, stressed that any attempt to reopen the tollgate will be resisted as the #OccupyLekki will go on as planned.
