At least four people sustained bullet wounds following a violent clash between supporters of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, on Wednesday.
The confrontation occurred around 7 a.m. at Elele Roundabout in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that confirming the incident, spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that officers from the Elele Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), swiftly responded to intelligence reports of an unlawful assembly of suspected hoodlums in the area.
She revealed that during an attempt to disperse the crowd, an unidentified gunman hiding nearby opened fire, injuring four people.
“As of press time, the number of those injured stood at four,” she said.
The police spokesperson further disclosed that the attackers fled the scene immediately, but one suspect was arrested, and a single-barrel gun was recovered from him. The injured victims were rushed to various hospitals in Elele for treatment.
A manhunt has been launched for the fleeing suspects, some of whom have been identified as members of the local vigilante group, OSPAC.
“The arrested suspect, along with the recovered firearm, will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation,” she added.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could aid the investigation.
The police assured the public that all perpetrators of the violence would be brought to justice, promising further updates as investigations continue.
