EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, the committee congratulated Nigerians, particularly members of the party’s National Executive Committee, Board of Trustees and the wider PDP family, on the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The group dismissed claims that the Oyo State convention which produced Kabiru Turaki as National Chairman enjoys the recognition of the Independent National Electoral Commission. It urged party members to objectively examine the facts surrounding the PDP leadership crisis rather than rely on what it described as falsehoods and propaganda circulated by certain interests.
The committee also advised Nigerians to disregard suggestions that the issues affecting the party are not justiciable, insisting that the matter is clearly within the purview of the courts.
Reacting to Makinde’s recent interview, the Wike loyal group described the comments as uninspiring and riddled with distorted facts. It said the interview further exposed what it called the governor’s lack of understanding of the legal and constitutional challenges confronting the party.
The statement accused the opposing faction of attempting to intimidate INEC through sponsored attacks after earlier claims of recognition by the electoral body were disproved.
“We wish to state unequivocally that we are party leaders who have utmost respect for constitutional provisions, subsisting court judgments and the rule of law,” the statement said.
It questioned why those claiming the matter was merely an internal party affair had earlier approached the Oyo State High Court for judicial intervention.

The committee urged PDP members and the general public to treat Makinde’s comments with caution and called on Nigerians to use the festive season to pray for national development and stability within the party.
