After a cagey first half played in heavy rain, Wolves broke the deadlock in the 61st minute with their first effort on target.

Villa had opportunities of their own. Amadou Onana came closest in stoppage time when his effort was cleared off the line by Yerson Mosquera, while Pau Torres headed wide from a first-half corner.
Wolves goalkeeper José Sá praised his side’s resilience, highlighting the team’s collective defensive effort as they secured only their second league win of the season and a fourth clean sheet.
