“I was nearby when it happened. A group of young men appeared suddenly. These guys are suspected to be cultists. Smart saw them from where he was sitting and relaxing.
He immediately stood up and started running. They chased him to an uncompleted story building and shot him. After that, they ran away.”
Despite efforts by residents who rushed to the scene to help, Smart succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
A local resident expressed her grief and concern over the growing insecurity in the area.
“This is heartbreaking. Smart was a good person. No one can even explain what happened between them. We can’t continue living in fear like this. Something must be done to stop these cultists.”
Residents are calling on authorities to take urgent action to prevent further violence in Jagbojagbo and its environs.
