Oby Ezekwesili, former minister of education, says President Muhammadu Buhari’s needs to undergo psychiatric evaluation.
Ezekwesili said probe of physical and mental health of Buhari has become highly imperative in the face of worsening insecurity in order to ascertain if he’s capable of managing the affairs of the country.
Ezekwesili call is coming in the wake of the Zabarmari masssacre in Jele local government area of Borno state during which over 40 farmers were killed by Boko Haram on Saturday.
In a tweet, Ezekwesili said the president’s health status can’t continue to be shrouded in secrecy, adding that Nigerians need to know if the president is incapacitated or not.
She noted that the situation of the country is too dire for citizens to watch with indifference as the nation teeters on the brink.
“I think that at this stage and depth of fragility of the Nigeria-State, Privacy has to yield ground to our Right-to-know as citizens, the state of health of President Muhammadu Buhari,” she tweeted.
“We really must assess the physical or mental capability of the President to carry on the duties of office. Citizens can collectively push for an Independent Panel to help us make the critical medical determination of the state of mind and body of our President, Muhammadu Buhari.
“The conditions of Nigeria have become too grave for us all to sit still and watch a train wreck in the making.
“As an extremely concerned citizen, I hereby demand for a #MedicalPanelOnBuhari since we obviously cannot trust the State House Physician to provide us accurate information.”
