Fourteen people died on Thursday while eight others sustained injuries in an auto accident near Makole village along Wudil-Kano road in Kano State.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Kano Command, Mr Zubairu Mato in a statement yesterday said a commercial Toyota Hiace bus with registration number DAL 116 XA carrying 22 persons burst into flames and fourteen of the occupants lost their lives. He attributed the accident to overloading, saying 22 people were on the bus.

“The victims were evacuated to the Wudil General Hospital where the fourteen bodies were deposited in the mortuary, while the remaining eight victims are currently receiving treatment,’’ he said.
Another accident claimed six lives and left five others injured in Katsina when two vehicles collided at Chadi village along Daura-Kano road in Sandamu Local Government Area.
The victims were all moved to the Daura General Hospital.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Ali Tanimu, said a Volkswagen Golf and a Peugeot J5 van collided at about 09:24 hrs on Thursday.
