The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the postponement of its planned state congresses in Plateau and Cross River.
The congresses, which were earlier scheduled for Saturday, September 27, 2025, were meant to elect new State Executive Committees in both states.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement issued on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP said new dates will be fixed and communicated in due course.
“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the postponement of the State Congress for the purpose of electing new State Executive Committee of our Party in Plateau and Cross River States.
“Consequently, the State Congress in the two States earlier scheduled to hold on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, has been postponed to a new date which will be communicated in due course.
“The NWC urges all leaders, critical stakeholders, teeming members of the PDP, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the media, security agencies, and the general public to note the postponement and be guided accordingly,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State chapter of the PDP has dismissed reports suggesting that Governor Siminalayi Fubara may defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking in an interview with Vanguard, the PDP chairman in Rivers, Robinson Ewor, said the governor has every right to take political decisions in the interest of his people but stressed that the party remains unconcerned about such speculation.
