EKO HOT BLOG reports that Speaking on the Mic On podcast on Saturday, Olarewaju stated that the PDP has become more of an ethnic-based platform rather than a national political movement. He explained that the party, which once dominated Nigeria’s political landscape, has lost direction and purpose.
According to him, “The PDP is no longer the force it once was and no longer has the drive. The PDP today has become a mere vehicle to satisfy ethnic desires. I think the PDP has lost national relevance. It will still remain a force in some states, but as far as national politics is concerned, the PDP is no longer fit for purpose.”
Olarewaju also gave a political forecast for the 2027 presidential election, stating that President Bola Tinubu would likely lose if Atiku Abubakar and former President Goodluck Jonathan contest the election on different platforms.
When asked what could happen if Jonathan runs on the PDP ticket and Atiku runs on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform, Olarewaju responded, “APC loses. The APC will have no base in the 2027 election if Jonathan runs on the PDP and Atiku or someone else runs on the ADC.”
He further added that he and other loyalists of Atiku would have no issue supporting Jonathan if he contests in a fair and competitive primary election and emerges victorious. “If Goodluck Jonathan can come into the primaries and contest competitively and he wins, we all will support him,” he said.
