The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced plans to petition the international community over what it described as recurring attacks on its members across Nigeria.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the party alleged that these assaults, particularly in states governed by the All Progressives Congress (APC), appear to be part of a calculated effort to silence opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking with journalists, the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, accused the ruling party of intolerance and of “setting the stage for violent elections in 2027.” He said the party would submit petitions to international missions, beginning with the ECOWAS Court, to draw global attention to what it considers a growing threat to Nigeria’s democracy.

Abdullahi lamented that the ADC had recorded repeated violent incidents in Kaduna, Ekiti, Ogun, and Lagos states. He recalled the August 30 attack in Kaduna, where thugs disrupted an ADC meeting attended by former governor Nasir El-Rufai, leaving several members injured.
In Ekiti State, the party’s secretariat was set ablaze last Tuesday before an inauguration ceremony for its new executives.
Hoodlums reportedly vandalised vehicles and attacked members during the invasion. The ADC National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, described the incident as “a shameful act of intolerance and a threat to democracy.”

Similar violence was reported in Lagos, where ADC supporters were attacked during a rally at Lion Field in Alimosho. The Ogun State chapter also accused the police of disrupting its Sagamu campaign ahead of the Remo Federal Constituency by-election.
Abdullahi urged Nigerians to condemn the attacks, warning that continued violence could undermine democratic values.
However, the North-Central APC Forum Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, denied the allegations, insisting the ruling party does not use thugs and accused the ADC of internal crises.
