The people of Ibeju-Lekki have welcomed another landmark project as the Lagos State Government flagged off the construction of the 4.2km Onosa–Fokumade Community Road, a development that promises to improve mobility, commerce, and access to essential services in the area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, described the project as a pathway to opportunity and growth.
“This road is not just an infrastructure; it is a pathway to greater opportunity, enhanced mobility, and economic growth for the entire axis,” he said.

He commended the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his leadership and commitment to equitable development across all communities.
“This project reflects his belief that no community should be left behind in the march towards progress. By investing in roads like this, Mr. Governor is laying the foundation for improved commerce, easier access to schools and healthcare, and a more connected Ibeju-Lekki,” Olowa noted.
Hon. Olowa also lauded the efforts of Rt. Hon. Fatai Mojeed Adebola, Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly and Member representing Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I, for his advocacy and role in making the project a reality.
“His relentless advocacy and unshaken dedication were pivotal in bringing this project to life. He has proven that true representation means using the instrument of governance to improve the lives of the people one serves,” the Chairman emphasized.
Pledging the support of the local government, Olowa assured that every effort would be made to ensure smooth execution and timely delivery of the project.
He called on the community to safeguard the road and embrace the opportunities it will bring.
“This project is a shared responsibility. Beyond building roads, our duty is to build trust and sustain the confidence our people have placed in government,” he said.
The Onosa–Fokumade Community Road project is expected to enhance connectivity within Ibeju-Lekki, boost local businesses, and strengthen access to education and healthcare facilities for residents.
